India’s Rubber Board Opens Call Center Offering Rainguarding Help

On May 6, the Rubber Board of India announced that it has opened a contact call center to provide information to rubber growers about rainguarding and the precautions to be taken in the harvesting of rubber during the rainy season.

Questions on the subject will be answered on May 8, from 10 am to 1 pm, IST (+5.30 GMT/UTC) by Mr. KR Sivamoni, Development Officer, Rubber Board. The call center number is: 0481-2576622.

Rubber trees need to be tapped without interruption during the rainy season in order to receive sustained income from rubber plantations, and to make this possible, trees should be rainguarded before the onset of the rainy season. If rainguarding is not done, the yield loss will be high in holdings where low frequency tapping is practiced.

Additional information about the services of the Rubber Board, as well as technical advice regarding the cultivation, production, processing etc. of rubber can be regularly sought from the center, which functions from the Head Office of the Rubber Board in Kottayam, Kerala. The service is available from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm IST on all working days.
