Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) says that the global economy has started on the road to recovery after an unprecedented plunge in the spring, when most of the world was in a COVID19 related lockdown.

Ms. Georgieva made her comments in a speech ahead of the meetings of the IMF and its sister lending agency, the World Bank, where the IMF will release its new economic outlook.

She said that while there has been some growth in the global economy, downside risks remain high and the crisis is far from over, maintaining that a difficult climb lies ahead.
