E-commerce major Amazon India recently announced it is creating more than 100,000 seasonal job opportunities ahead of the festive season across its operations network in the country. Multiple sale events are held during the country’s festive season, timed around Dussehra and Diwali, which generally runs from the start of October to the end of November.
The high volume of orders required during the Festive Season sales requires e-tailers like Amazon and Flipkart to hire thousands of employees in temporary delivery and support roles.
Amazon says it has also generated tens of thousands of indirect opportunities through its partner networks, including its delivery/trucking partners, packaging vendors, ‘I Have Space’ delivery partners, Amazon Flex partners and housekeeping agencies. The company created almost 70,000 seasonal jobs in May. Amazon India has committed to created 1 million opportunities across its operational network and customer service centers.
